Astros and Dodgers Have One More Epic Battle in 2017 World Series
The Houston Astros and the Los Angeles Dodgers will battle one more time on Wednesday when they battle at Dodger Stadium in Game 7 of the 2017 World Series. The series has been an epic battle between two heavyweight sluggers. First pitch is set for 8:20 pm EST. FOX will have the thrilling action.
Oddsmakers opened the Dodgers as -130-moneyline favorites versus the Astros, while the game’s total opened at 7.5. The Dodgers are now -155-moneyline favorites. The total has held steady.
The All-Star Game no longer decides home-field advantage in the World Series. MLB gave up the asinine experiment. The Dodgers had the best record in baseball this year. They have turned home-field advantage into hosting Game 7 of the Fall Classic.
The Dodgers bested the Houston Astros 3-1 on Tuesday night. Game 6 of the World Series was what we expected to see a lot of this season. Verlander dominating most of the time and the Dodgers getting good pitching. The Dodgers had the more timely hitting as the Astros left the Bases Loaded with no outs at one point.
Astros Turn to McCullers Jr. to Win Franchise’s 1st World Series Title
Lance McCullers Jr. out to the mound in this one. Right hander McCullers Jr. has a 8-4 record and a 4.07 ERA this season. The Astros are looking to win their first title. In Houston’s only other World Series appearance, 2005, they lost to the Chicago White Sox. The Astros were in the National League at the time.
The right-handed McCullers JR. gave up three runs on four hits over 5 1/3 innings in Game 3. He got the victory.
Russ Springer’s home run in Game 6 was the 14th of the series for the Astros. That ties them with the 2002 Giants for the most ever in a single World Series. Houston needs only one home run in Game 7 to hold the record outright.
Justin Verlander is expected to be able to pitch an inning or two if needed.
Darvish Gets a Chance at Reprieve After Game 3 Bad Outing
Yu Darvish. The Dodgers right hander has a 3.83 ERA to go along with a 12-13 record this season. The Dodgers will be looking for their seventh World Series title overall.
Darvish had a sub-par effort at Houston. He gave up four runs on six hits in just 1 2/3 innings. That was the shortest outing of his career.
It is all hands on deck for the Dodgers bullpen. Clayton Kershaw is expected to be ready to come out of the bullpen.
