West Virginia and TCU Meet in Black Friday Matchup
The TCU Horned Frogs host the West Virginia Mountaineers in a battle of two former conference powerhouses just struggling to get bowl eligible. I think we can all agree that the Big 12 has been significantly underwhelming in the College Football Playoff era. Besides the Oklahoma Sooners, there has not yet been much success for the conference as a whole.

There has been a downward trend of the talent in the conference, and it has made it hard to watch. The good news is that even though the teams are struggling in the national spotlight, the games have still been entertaining in conference.
The biggest rub for the Big 12 is the fact that there is not a whole lot of defense that is played in the conference matchups. These teams like to score points, and it leads to some high-scoring affairs.
Two of the teams that are towards the bottom of the conference are squaring off this weekend, as the West Virginia Mountaineers are traveling south to take on the TCU Horned Frogs. These have struggled both in and out of conference this season, but the Horned Frogs have a chance to still make it to a bowl game.
Not A Typical Team from TCU Horned Frogs and West Virginia
Of all of the teams in the Big 12, the Mountaineers have actually struggled to put up consistent scoring, averaging only 20 points per game.
Both teams are coming off rough stretches in their last four games, where they are 1-3 in their last four games each.
Who I really love in this game is TCU’s running back, Darius Anderson. Anderson has been a strong power back all season. He does not do much pass-catching out of the backfield, but he is able to churn out first downs consistently with his legs and is one of the Horned Frogs’ most reliable options in the offense.
For West Virginia, it is hard to find a bright spot in the offense. Austin Kendall at quarterback has been average at best and has thrown nearly as many interceptions as he has touchdowns.
Kendall has one of the conference’s better receivers on the outside in Sam James. James has already hauled in 66 receptions on the year, which is pretty good considering how bad this offense has been all season. The TCU defense will have to pay attention to James at all times to make sure he does not break out for any big-yardage plays.

This, That and a College Football Dart Throw
The rushing defense for both of these football teams has been some of the weakest links. They both give up over 140 rushing yards or worse, and that is not going to hold up well in this game for either program.
I already told you how much I like Darius Anderson for the Horned Frogs, and I think with West Virginia’s shoddy run defense, he will have no problem having a big day on the ground.
Not to mention that Anderson has the home crowd behind him, and he will be able to ride that energy and feed off the crowd while he is collecting first down after first down. TCU has more talent than West Virginia at almost every position on the field, and that should show out in this game.

TCU has the stronger offense, which is bolstered by its run game, and I think the run game will open up a number of holes for quarterback Max Duggan to pick the secondary apart.
