The US online gaming numbers increased in January. However, revenue differed from one state to another. For instance, online poker revenue improved in Pennsylvania. On the other hand, there is a decline in New Jersey. Michigan reported a new monthly record for its online casino gaming.
According to bookie pay per head reports, there was a 2.7% increase in total gaming income from January 2023 to January 2024, which the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board recorded as $477.2 million. The total revenue from online gambling in 2017 was $149.6 million, up 12.4% from $133.1 million the previous year. Of this, $110 million came from slot machines, $36.9% from table games, and $2.7% from online poker.
The revenue from poker has increased by 12.5 percent, or almost $300,000, from $2.4 million in December. A rise of 11.1% from $772.3 million in January 2023 to $858.2 million was the overall wagering handle for sports, with $66 million coming from internet betting.
US Online Gaming Numbers
According to the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, there was a difference in the outcomes of online casinos and live ones. The $205 million in income from live casinos is a 3.1% decline from the $211.7 million recorded in January 2023. Much of that was due to a decline in slot income, which fell to $143 million, a 5.8 percent decrease from 2023. Revenue from table games was $62.1 million, an increase of 3.7% over the previous year.
Contrast this with online gaming. Income from internet gambling was $183.3 million in January, up from $152.9 million in the same month a year ago. According to the best sportsbook pay per head reviews and news sites, gross revenue from sports betting reached $170.8 million, up 136.1% from $72.3 million the previous year. The amount wagered on online poker decreased by 8.2% in January 2023, falling from $2.7 million to $2.5 million. In January, the total gaming income in the Garden State hit $559.1 million, up 28 percent from $436.9 million in January 2023.
According to the Michigan Gaming Control Board’s most recent report, online gaming and sports handicapping earned $229.6 million in January. From December, that figure dropped 5.4%.
