- The drivers of the Sprint Cup Series will face the challenge of a road course on Sunday as they compete in the Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway.
Jimmie Johnson took the checkered flag at Michigan International Speedway last time out, winning the Quicken Loans 400 over Kevin Harvick.
Harvick, Brad Keselowski, Paul Menard, and Kasey Kahne rounded out the top five drivers at the Quicken Loans 400, with Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kyle Larson, Joey Logano, and Clint Bowyer making up the rest of the Top 10.
Johnson is now 15 points behind Gordon in second place in the Sprint Cup Series driver standings, with Earnhardt Jr. 23 points behind the leader in third place. Matt Kenseth and Keselowski sit fourth and fifth in the updated points race.
Martin Truex Jr. won the Toyota/Save Mart 350 last year, with Gordon, Carl Edwards, Kurt Busch, Bowyer, Kahne, Marcos Ambrose, Greg Biffle, Johnson, and Harvick following him across the finish line that day.
After racing at Sonoma the drivers of the Sprint Cup Series will move on to Kentucky Speedway for the Quaker State 400 on June 28. NASCAR’s July calendar then offers up events at Daytona, New Hampshire, and Indianapolis.
