Injuries are Affecting the Cleveland Browns and Denver Broncos
By Charles Jay
The Denver Broncos are having their share of problems now, but as we get ready for Thursday Night NFL betting at BetAnySports, the Cleveland Browns have more of a dilemma to navigate their way through.
This turns out to be a pivotal game as far as the playoff aspirations of both teams are concerned, as they are both standing at 3-3. And to be perfectly honest, they are trending downward.

Thursday Night NFL Betting — The Browns: Walking wounded
….And frankly, in some cases not walking at all. The Browns will have to go without quarterback Baker Mayfield, who tore his left labrum, at the very least. He may be out for a while. But they will have to go with Case Keenum, the journeyman who had some shining moments several years ago when he took the Minnesota Vikings within a game of the Super Bowl.
It would be one thing if Keenum had a full complement of weapons to work with. But he doesn’t. Running back Nick Chubb was already out, but his sidekick, Kareem Hunt, got hurt in the 37-14 loss to Arizona on Sunday. For a team that is #1 in the NFL in rushing, that’s important. D’Ernest Johnson will be the #1 back for Thursday. He’s had three carries this season.
While Cleveland will likely welcome wide receiver Jarvis Landry back, Odell Beckham (shoulder) is more of a question mark. We’ll see what happens before kickoff. The offensive line is banged up as well; Jedrick Wells may be back on the left side, but right tackle Jack Conklin is out.
So offensively, the Browns are a shaky proposition.
Thursday Night NFL Betting — What happened to the Broncos?
Well, the answer to that question could be as simple as the fact that the quality of opposition has been higher lately. Denver got off to a 3-0 start, but those wins came against the Giants, Jets and Jags, who were 9-39 last year and have three wins between them this season.
But they have suffered consecutive losses to the Ravens, Steelers and Raiders – all of them by double digits. Teddy Bridgewater has gotten banged up, and he’ll come into this game with foot and quadriceps injuries.
Of course, it’s going to be a problem when your offensive line allows you to get hit 17 times (with five sacks). So how good is Denver? Probably not that good, and Vic Fangio may indeed be in some hot water.
Thursday Night NFL Betting — What should we expect?
This game could serve as a showcase for a couple of the NFL’s best pass rushers. Myles Garrett and the Browns have had success getting pressure without blitzing; they actually are fourth in the league in pressure rate. Two offenses that are more capable than Denver’s (the Cardinals and Chargers) have picked Cleveland’s defense apart, but you won’t see a duplication of that. Bridgewater has thrown four interceptions in the last two games.
Von Miller absolutely promises that he is going to have a big game, regardless of which offensive tackle is in front of him. So questions revolve around whether Keenum can get rid of the ball quickly. What might happen is that Denver crowds the box to shut down a Cleveland ground game that is already downgraded, forcing Keenum to get the job done through the air.
The most judicious way to go here would be to look toward the total. It’s hard to see how this could become a scoring fest, so we’ll choose the UNDER.
