Panthers and Buccaneers in Early Season NFC South Tilt
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers travel to take on the Carolina Panthers on Thursday Night Football in week two of the NFL Season. Before we get into that lets take a short look back at week one.
The 2019 NFL season is in full swing and what a great opening week we saw. The Packers stormed into Soldier Field and held them to three lousy points! The Colts nearly pulled off the upset in LA against the Chargers without Andrew Luck and the Patriots looked like they haven’t missed a beat by smacking the Steelers by 30-points. The Broncos looked awful on Monday night against a sharp-looking Raiders and the Saints pulled off a hat trick to shock a celebrating Houston Texans. It was an amazing week indeed and if you are still looking for that perfect online sportsbook that’s offering the best player bonus and a free contest or two, then get moving! The Buccaneers have struggled for a long time, not only have they struggled to win, they have struggled to stay relevant. This team has had its share of hard knocks and it’s been a long time since the Gruden years. Jameis Winston came along and was supposed to have been the “savior”. It hasn’t happened. In fact, every year seems to be worse than the next and he had a miserable outing against the 49ers this past Sunday with 194 yards passing, 1 TD, and 3 Int’s for a QB rating of 7.3! It simply doesn’t get any worse than this. The offensive line is depleted, and although the 49ers are certainly much improved over the last couple of season, the Buc’s gave up 31 points, at home. Their opener was nothing short of an unmitigated disaster.

The Panthers, on the other hand, they looked impressive against the Rams in what turned out to be a 3-point loss. Cam Newton is still not on par as to what he once was, and it seems that the loss in Super Bowl 50 was a stumbling block to his career. He is still Cam Newton and although he certainly has some things to work out, he is the same talented guy with a cannon for an arm and a big receiver/RB in McCaffery who went for 19 carries on 128 rushing yard and 10 receptions for 81 receiving yards to boot. This team has talent and they are not dead. They are well-coached by who has become one of the best in the business with Ron Rivera.
The Panthers have a lot to prove in this game and they will come out swinging. The Buc’s are in a perpetual state of rebuilding and looked terrible in their own house against a very mediocre 49ers club. This smells like a blowout. If not a blowout at least a solid win from the home team. The Panthers are undervalued at -7. This game feels like a 38-17 kind of game. Look for the Panthers to easily win this contest.
