Buckeyes and Horned Frogs Meet on Saturday Night Football
Saturday Night Football on ABC most always has quality matchups. Tonight is no different. The 15th-ranked TCU Horned Frogs and the 4th-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes will battle at AT&T Stadium Saturday night.
Kickoff is set for a few minutes after 8 pm EST.
Oddsmakers have the Buckeyes as 13.5-point road favorites. The total is at 58.5.
Ohio State interim coach Ryan Day will again lead the team on game day. Urban Meyer still has to complete a three-game suspension. The suspension is related to his handling of domestic abuse allegations against recently fired assistant Zach Smith.
Ohio State’s offense has been clicking on all cylinders. It is averaging 64.5 points in two wins in which the absence of Meyer has been a non-factor.
This game is huge for TCU. An upset of the Buckeyes would elevate the
Horned Frogs into the discussion about possible College Football Playoff teams.
Ohio State Offense is Ready for Saturday Night Football Primetime
Ohio State is 2-0 and the offense is humming like a sewing machine. Sophomore quarterback Dwayne Haskins has completed a outstanding 79.2 percent of his passes. That is superb in his first two college starts.
He has racked up 546 yards and nine touchdowns against one interception.
The Buckeyes are also averaging 300 yards on the ground. Junior Mike Weber has 217 yards and three touchdowns. Sophomore J.K. Dobbins has chipped in 147 yards and one score. They are off to solid starts.
WR Terry McLaurin is averaging 34.4 yards per catch and has scored on three of his five receptions.
Junior defensive end Nick Bosa is dominating the trenches. He has five tackles for loss, including three sacks. Junior defensive tackle Dre’Mont Jones and sophomore defensive end Chase Young have two sacks apiece. This defense will be tested tonight.
Ohio State holds a 4-1-1 series edge, but the last meeting was in 1973 when the Buckeyes prevailed 37-3.
TCU Has Some Holes to Fill, but Still Dangerous
TCU is 2-0 to start the 2018 season. The team lost a lot on offense but still has many weapons that can hurt the Buckeyes
Senior receiver KaVontae Turpin set school records for career punt return touchdowns and total return scores last week. He brought one back 78 yards against SMU on Sept. 7. That gave him 4 punt returns for a TD and 5 total return TD’s.
He has eight receptions for 111 yards and one touchdown this season.
Sophomore quarterback Shawn Robinson has thrown for 336 yards, four touchdowns and one interception so far. He is also the team’s leading rusher with 112 yards and three scores.
Sophomore defensive tackle Corey Bethley has three sacks. Senior linebacker Ty Summers has two for a defensive unit allowing an average of 9.5 points.
LB Alec Dunham returned a fumble 25 yards for a score against SMU.
