The Sports Betting Week in Review in MLB, NFL, College Football, and NBA
The NFL, NBA and College Football seasons are in full swing and sports betting enthusiasts are stoked. This is a great time of the year to be a sports gambler as the fall is a rebirth of most sports after a long and grinding MLB season. When the baseball playoffs start, sports punters are in hog heaven.
MLB Sportsbook Preview: Yankees On The Brink; Cardinals Get Early Jump
The New York Yankees are in a difficult situation down two games to none heading to Detroit for game three of their ALCS against the Tigers on Tuesday. The Yankees have failed to score a run in 17 of the 18 innings played through two games in this series, and it isn’t about to get any easier with reigning AL Cy Young award winner Justin Verlander set to get the ball for game three.
The Tigers are the first team in the last 100 seasons to have their starter go five or more shutout innings in four-straight postseason starts, and the combination of New York’s offensive struggles with Verlander’s stuff means it is very likely that streak will continue. The Yankees will need an All-Star performance from Phil Hughes as he gets the call in game three, but it won’t be easy against a lethal Tigers’ offense, with which Triple Crown winner Miguel Cabrera has reached safe in every one of their playoff games.
Meanwhile, the St. Louis Cardinals are in the driver seat after taking the opener in their NLCS series against the San Francisco Giants, with game three set for Wednesday in St. Louis.
NFL Betting Preview: 49ers Will Not Have Much Time To Recover From Blowout Loss
After getting blown away by the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants in a rematch of last year’s NFC Championship game, the San Francisco 49ers won’t have much time to recover and get ready for their next game. San Francisco will host the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football for week seven, and the biggest factor in that short turnaround may very well be the ability to rebound mentally.
49ers’ quarterback Alex Smith was particularly bad after throwing three interceptions in the loss, as San Francisco gave up 26-unanswered points to close out that game. The Seahawks meanwhile after coming off a shocking 24-23 win over the New England Patriots, stealing the win on a deep touchdown by Sidney Rice with just over a minute to play.
College Football Betting Preview: No. 3 Oregon Clash With Arizona State
The No. 3 Oregon Ducks have kept their national title hopes alive with a series of blowout wins over top-25 Pac-12 opponents over the last three weeks, and will look to continue to roll over a relatively-mediocre schedule when they travel to Arizona State for their next game this Thursday. The Sun Devils are a surprising 5-1 after road wins at both California and Colorado the last two weeks, meaning the Ducks will have to be very careful not to get caught looking ahead when they land in Sun Devil Stadium Thursday.
NBA Betting Sites Preview: New-Look Lakers Host Utah Tuesday
While the Los Angeles Lakers will be very careful bringing back Dwight Howard from injury, they should have the rest of their new pieces on the court this Tuesday when they host the Utah Jazz. Steve Nash and Antawn Jamison should both see some action along with Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, and Metta World Peace, and with so much hype around the new-look Lakers this exhibition game is sure to get a lot of attention.
