Giannis Antetokounmpo is known as the Greek Freak in the NBA. However, his latest action shows he has a big Greek heart. NBA star Antetokounmpo funded a basketball court in a fire-ravaged neighborhood just outside of Athens. The fire killed at least 100 people.
Vangelis Bournous, mayor of the Rafina area, told sportsbook pay per head news sites that they received an offer from the Bucks superstar to construct a basketball court at the proposed recycling park. However, the mayor didn’t provide details of the project, including the cost of the basketball court. He did say the park will be ready by the end of summer.
The fire burned down the seaside resort of Mati and other coastal communities. In fact, the disaster destroyed more than a thousand homes. The mayor announced the NBA star Antetokounmpo’s donation during a campaign for the local elections Sunday.

Antetokounmpo maintained close relationships with Greece even when he’s already living in the US. In fact, he took part in various campaign to promote Greek tourism and airline. Also, he promoted recycling in the country.
His older brother, Thanasis, still lives in Athens. Also, he plays for Panathinaikos coached by Rick Pitino. The former used to be the coach of the Louisville Cardinals and Boston Celtics.
