American League Central
The American League Central could be one of the most competitive divisions in baseball this coming season. That means plenty of betting value on a night-to-night basis. Detroit remains the front-runner to win the division but the Tigers aren’t perfect. There’s potential for a changing of a guard this summer.
Detroit Tigers
The Tigers will put up runs – that much is for sure – with Miguel Cabrera, Victor Martinez and Yoenis Cespedes making pitchers sweat. The big question mark is the pitching staff, namely former MVP Justin Verlander and whether he can rebound from a dreadful 2014 and make up for some big losses to this rotation.
Chicago White Sox
Chicago has one of the best 1,2,3 rotations in the American League with Chris Sale, Jeff Samardzija, and Jose Quintana. However, Sale suffered an ankle injury this spring and it could hound the White Sox ace all season.
Chicago did add some pop to the lineup, but this team will lean on those three arms a lot this season.
Cleveland Indians
The Tribe enter Year 3 under Terry Francona. Cleveland has the reigning AL Cy Young winner in Corey Kluber and added veteran arm Gavin Floyd this off-season.
The Indians kept their bullpen intact after a 3.12 ERA in 2014 and will depend on the relievers to keep teams off the board in the late innings due to a lack of consistent offense.
Can Royals Repeat in American League Central
Kansas City Royals
The Royals won the AL Pennant last season but could take a mighty drop in the AL Central pecking order, due to Cleveland and Chicago improving. Kansas City made magic during that October run but lost the cornerstone of that push in ace James Shields.
It will be tough to build on that momentum even with plenty of talent back on both sides of the ball.
Minnesota Twins
The Twins bring up the rear in the AL Central again in 2015. Minnesota, which posted the worst ERA in the American League last season, brought in Ervin Santana and Tim Stauffer to beef up their rotation.
The Twins have some terrific prospects that should get plenty of time in the bigs as this team continues its rebuilding process.
