Quaker State 400 Preview by Bovada
The drivers of the Sprint Cup Series will return to the track under the lights on Saturday night as they compete in the Quaker State 400 at Kentucky Speedway.
Carl Edwards crossed the finish line ahead of Jeff Gordon last time out to take the checkered flag in the Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway.
Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jamie McMurray, Paul Menard, Kasey Kahne, Jimmie Johnson, Marcos Ambrose, Greg Biffle, and Clint Bowyer made up the rest of the Top 10 drivers on the road course at Sonoma Raceway.
Gordon now has a 20-point lead on Johnson in the Sprint Cup Series driver standings, with Earnhardt Jr. 25 points behind the leader in third place. Edwards’ win at the Toyota/Save Mart 350 has him 71 points behind Gordon in sixth place.
Matt Kenseth won the Quaker State 400 last year, with McMurray, Bowyer, Joey Logano, and Kyle Busch following him across the finish line that day. Brad Keselowski won this event in 2012, while Busch was the champion in 2011.
After racing at Kentucky Speedway the drivers of the Sprint Cup Series will move on to Daytona International Speedway for the Coke Zero 400 on July 5. The other two races on the calendar for July will take place at New Hampshire and Indianapolis.
