Pistons Host the Pelicans Monday Night

The fans at Little Caesars Arena will see the New Orleans Pelicans and the Detroit Pistons when they take their seats on Monday. Tip-off is at 7 pm EST and the game will be telecast regionally on Fox Sports Net.
Oddsmakers opened the Pistons as -4.5-point favorites versus the Pelicans, while the game’s total opened at 218. The line is now Detroit -2.5 points and the total has risen to 221.5.
The Pelicans snapped a three game losing streak against the Nets. The Pelicans gave away a 20-point halftime lead in Brooklyn on Saturday. They survived with a 138-128 double-overtime victory. Anthony Davis carried them with 44 points, 17 rebounds, six steals and three blocks. He played 49 minutes and the Pelicans needed every one of them.
New Orleans needs every win it can get. They need to capture a lower seed in the Western Conference playoffs. The team lost to Minnesota, Utah and Philadelphia before its visit to Brooklyn.
Newly acquired Nikola Mirotic is averaging 14 points and 9.0 rebounds in four games since coming from Chicago. He had 21 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks against the Nets.
The Pelicans can sweep the season series against the Pistons tonight. New Orleans won at home, 112-109 on Jan. 8. Davis scored 30 points despite exiting in the third quarter with an ankle injury.
Pistons Trying to Halt a Losing Streak Against Pelicans
Detroit was a 118-115 loser in its last match on the road against the Atlanta Hawks. They failed to cover the -4-point spread as favorites, while the total score of 233 sent OVER bettors to the payout window.
Detroit has now lost two straight after a five-game winning streak.
Blake Griffin scored 23 points. The total was misleading. He made only one-third of his 21 shots from the field.
