After UGA Loss Missouri Tigers Control own Fate in SEC East

Could This be Upset Saturday? The Missouri Tigers can control their own fate in the SEC East and that starts with playing the Ole Miss Rebels. The 2019 college football season is finally taking shape as we have passed the midway point. Teams and conferences are falling into place, and we are finding out who the true contenders are for the College Football Playoff.

The season itself has been electric, with the SEC and Big Ten Conference separating themselves from the pack. These two conferences have been dominant, and boast seven of the top 10 teams in the country.

Our article today will be breaking down two of the SEC teams in a conference matchup. The Ole Miss Rebels will be on the road taking on the Missouri Tigers on Saturday night. These two teams are not near the top of the SEC standings, but they both have impressive resumes heading into this contest.

Ole Miss comes into this game with two ranked matchups already on its resume: Alabama and California. The Rebels put up a strong fight against the Crimson Tide for awhile but eventually were overwhelmed by their firepower and lost 59-31.

In their game against Cal, the Rebels had a close game going into halftime before letting the Bears score back-to-back touchdowns in the third quarter. Ole Miss got another score on the board in the fourth, but unfortunately, it was too little, too late.

Missouri has been much improved this season, with Kelly Bryant coming over from Clemson to take the lead at quarterback. Bryant has looked sharp after a rusty start to the season, and the Tigers have a 4-1 record so far. They have wins against West Virginia and South Carolina and have averaged over 450 yards per game.

Bryant is the leader that Missouri has been desperately looking for. Missouri has struggled to find itself in the SEC since moving there earlier in this decade. They still have their toughest matchups on the schedule for this season, including games at Georgia and home against Florida.

The Tigers are on the right track, and they should fare well in this matchup against the Ole Miss Rebels.

This, that and a college football dart throw

The best thing going for the Missouri Tigers is their offense. Missouri is averaging 39 points per game, and its rushing attack has been a big reason why.

In fact, the Ole Miss rushing attack has led its offense this season as well. Two high-powered run games are what carry both of these SEC teams, and it will be interesting to see how that works, with both teams trying to control the clock and the tempo of the game the whole time.

One major concern with Ole Miss is its defense, as the Rebels have been giving up a whopping 395 yards per game to their opponents. Ole Miss has yet to find itself a quality win yet either and has struggled in its previous seasons as well.

While this game is not of utmost importance for the College Football Playoff, it is an intriguing contest to see how good Missouri actually is. While Missouri won’t make it into the national spotlight, it could be a team to pull off an upset against a Georgia or Florida later in the year to shake up the postseason picture.

In any case, the Tigers are favored by 12.5 points at home in this game, according to our friends at BetAnySports. They really should be able to handle business here, and with the way that Ole Miss’s defense has been playing, I think Missouri will have no trouble marching down the field and scoring at will.

Bryant should be strong in this one and be able to improve his numbers for the season.

The dart throw: Missouri at -12.5
