Wizards Dynamic Duo Could Post Trouble for Nuggets
The Washington Wizards and the Denver Nuggets meet on Monday at Pepsi Center. Tip-off is set for 9 pm EST.
You have the Nuggets inexperienced backcourt against the Wizards experience. Denver’s offense is in the hands of 20-year-old Jamal Murray and 21-year-old Emmanuel Mudiay. It was a risky move to waive veteran point guard Jameer Nelson. For a Denver team with playoff aspirations, these kids are going to have to grow up quickly
Oddsmakers opened the Nuggets as -3-point favorites versus the Wizards, while the game’s total opened at 223. The line now has the Nuggets as 5-point favorites. The total is up to 224.
Nuggets have Saw Improvement with Milsap Signing
The Nuggets were a 96-79 winner in their most recent outing at home against the Sacramento Kings. They covered the -12.5-point spread as favorites, while the total score (175) made winners of UNDER bettors.
Murray and Mudiay haven’t shot the ball well so far this season. They are doing a decent job of taking care of the ball. Murray is averaging two turnovers per game and Mudiay only one for the Nuggets.
Denver hasn’t scored 100 points in a game yet. That doesn’t fall solely on the two youngsters. Center Nikola Jokic, a triple-double threat every night, went scoreless against the King. He had just seven points in the opener against Utah.
Free Agent signee Paul Milsap is averaging 18.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in the early season. He is shooting 50% from the floor.
Wall and Beal are one of the top Backcourt Tandems in the NBA
The Wizards were a 115-111 winner in their most recent outing at home against the Detroit Pistons. They failed to cover the -7-point spread as favorites, while the total score (226) made winners of OVER bettors.
John Wall and Bradley Beal are a handful for any team in the NBA. Tonight it could be a much bigger task for Murray and Mudiay to stop. Wall and Beal are averaging 27 and 25 points, respectively, to lead the Wizards.
Kelly Oubre Jr., has moved into the starting lineup because of injuries to Jason Smith and Markieff Morris. Oubre is happy that Washington has picked up his fourth-year option. He has a chance to take control of the forward position until Smith and Morris return.
Morris had offseason Hernia surgery has started working out. Smith missed Friday’s win over Detroit with a sprained right shoulder. He should return soon. Possibly as early as the four-game Western Conference trip that starts Monday night.
Washington will test Denver’s defense. Their D was strong Saturday night after a rough start in Utah on Wednesday.
