NLDS Will be Run If Like Regular Season
The fans at Dodger Stadium will see the first game of the NLDS between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Los Angeles Dodgers. First pitch is set for 10:31 pm EST. The game will be televised by TBS.
The Dodgers had the best record in MLB season. That didn’t matter to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Arizona took 11 of 19 game from Los Angeles during the regular season. The DBacks are hoping the same success transfers to the post-season. The Playoffs are a different animal.
Oddsmakers opened the Dodgers as -250-moneyline favorites versus the Diamondbacks, while the game’s total opened at 7.5. The Dodgers are now -270-moneyline favorites. The total is now at 7.
DBacks Hope Dodgers are Rusty in NLDS After Layoff
The Diamondbacks will give the ball to starter Taijuan Walker in this one. Right hander Walker is 9-9 this season with a 3.49 ERA.
The Dodgers haven’t played since the regular-season finale Sunday. The Diamondbacks had to fight their way to an an 11-8 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday.
The NL Wild-Card game caused the DBacks to use staff Ace Zack Grienke and Bobby Ray.
Walker was 2-0 with a 3.24 ERA in three starts against Los Angeles this season. He is 2-1, 4.79 in four career outings vs. the Dodgers.
Torey Lovullo still had not decided on his starting lineup. One question would be third base. Jake Lamb played there in the wild-card game. He had four hits. The issue is that he is a left-handed hitter. That makes it a challenge to face the lefty Kershaw.
Dodgers Turn to Ace Kershaw in NLDS
It’ll be Clayton Kershaw toeing the rubber for the Dodgers in this contest. Left hander Kershaw is 18-4 with a 2.31 ERA so far this season.
Kershaw has had success against Arizona this year, and throughout his career. He went 2-0 with a 0.59 ERA in two starts vs. the Diamondbacks this season. He is 14-8, 2.55 in 26 career starts against Arizona.
Kershaw has experienced his troubles in the postseason. He has posted a career mark of 4-7 with a 4.55 ERA in 18 games. 14 of those have been starts.
