The Dodgers will send Julio Urias to the mound on Wednesday. The 20-year-old has never started a playoff game before. He did pitch a couple of scoreless innings against the Washington Nationals in the NLDS. He earned the win for his team. In doing so, he became the youngest pitcher in Major League history to earn a postseason victory. He’s faced the Cubs a couple of times this season, but gave up 14 hits and seven runs in 11 innings of work.
The Cubs will counter with John Lackey. The wily veteran has far more playoff experience than Urias. Lackey has pitched in 24 playoff games, posting a respectable 3.22 ERA and 1.25 WHIP. That being said, he got roughed up in his first postseason start this year. He gave up seven hits and three earned runs in just four innings of work against the San Francisco Giants. The 37-year-old hasn’t faced the Dodgers yet this season.
