New York Giants Look to Keep Browns from Reaching 10 Wins
The Cleveland Browns travel to Gotham (Technically New Jersey) to battle the resurgent, but banged up, New York Giants on Sunday Night Football.
The Cleveland Browns had a chance to move into the AFC’s elite teams on Monday night, as they hosted the Baltimore Ravens. However, they fell behind, 28-14, in the third quarter.
They did mount a furious comeback to take a 35-34 lead, but their defense could not stop the Ravens late, as Baltimore prevailed, 47-42. The defense will need to figure out how to get stops against top offenses if the Browns are going to make any sort of playoff run.
Next up for the Browns is a trip to New York to take on the resurgent Giants, who saw a four-game winning streak come to an end last week in a 26-7 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
Three of the wins in that streak came against Washington, Philadelphia and Cincinnati, but the fourth came in Seattle and showed impressive grit, as it was backup quarterback Colt McCoy who led the G-men to a win.
Can Cleveland pick up that tenth win on Sunday night? Don’t miss our preview of this prime-time affair.

Why the Browns Will Win
The Browns have a three-game road winning streak, and this win would give them a tenth victory for the first time in 13 years. Baker Mayfield has heated up over the past few weeks, with eight touchdown passes in his last three contests.
Rashard Higgins and Jarvis Landry (who has a touchdown pass of his own) have combined to catch six touchdown passes. The running game is among the strongest in the league, led by 881 yards and nine scores out of Nick Chubb.
It’s that defense, though, that remains an issue in the Sixth City. The Browns allow over 28 points and 363 yards per game. Myles Garrett has been a terror in the pass rush, with 10 ½ sacks, but he can’t rush the passer and also cover receivers down the field.
Cleveland has only covered the spread in two of their last eight games, but they do have the running game to dictate the rhythm of this matchup.
Why the Giants Will Win
New York is just 2-2 in their last four home games, and quarterback Daniel Jones is having a hard time getting his team into the end zone, with no touchdown passes in the last three games as he fights a hamstring injury. On the ground, Wayne Gallman has come on nicely after Saquon Barkley went down with an ACL tear in Week 2, putting up 561 yards and six scores.
The Giants’ defense has stood tall, permitting fewer than 23 points and 343 yards per game. Leonard Williams leads the Giants with 8 ½ sacks, and Blake Martinez is the team leader in tackles with 118. New York has covered in five of their last seven games, although quite a few of those spreads have been larger than this one.
The Final Word
Cleveland has not lost back-to-back games at any point in 2020, and they are inching closer and closer to their first playoff appearance since 2002, when they made it to the wild card round.
While Mayfield’s performances have been up and down, they have improved lately, and his gifts as a leader have the Browns giving 100%. I like Cleveland to make it a 10-4 record in New York on Sunday night.
The Dart Throw: Browns 23, Giants 14
