Can Buffalo Bills Prove they are Contenders?
The Buffalo Bills either come at an opportune or a bad time for the The Pittsburgh Steelers. They just lost their first game of the 2020 campaign. They fell at home to Washington, 23-17. That loss came on the heels of a shaky 19-14 win over Baltimore that head coach Mike Tomlin had described as a “JV” effort.
Their next test comes in prime time against the Buffalo Bills, who come in on a two-game winning streak, including a 34-24 win in San Francisco on Monday night – the first win for Buffalo on Monday Night Football since 1999.
Josh Allen has emerged as an elite talent at quarterback for the Bills, and the vibe between Allen and receivers Stefon Diggs and Cole Beasley has the Buffalo offense hopping.
Can the Steelers make it 12 wins, or will the Bills pick up a statement win?

Why the Steelers Will Win
Ben Roethlisberger has led the Steelers’ offense with a steady hand all year long, with a 27:7 TD:INT ratio, but the offense has stalled a bit the last two weeks, struggling to score against both Baltimore (with the Ravens short 18 players due to COVID-19) and then losing to Washington.
Chase Claypool and Diontae Johnson have combined to catch 13 touchdown passes, coming along nicely with JuJu Smith-Schuster to give Big Ben options. On the ground, the Steelers run for almost 93 yards per game.
The Steelers’ defense has been the real strength of the team. They have permitted just over 17 points and 300 yards per contest. T.J. Watt has caused chaos week in and week out in the pass rush with a dozen sacks. Minkah Fitzpatrick has feasted on the quarterback mistakes under pressure as he has grabbed four picks. Pittsburgh has covered in four of their last five road games and in five of their last seven games against Buffalo.
Why the Bills Will Win
Cole Beasley set a career high with 130 receiving yards against San Francisco, and he and Stefon Diggs are just 166 yards away from 2,000 combined receiving yards for the season. Josh Allen has at least two touchdown passes in his last 12 contests, and Devin Singletary has provided decent balance at tailback, leading the team with 544 yards.
The Buffalo defense has been serviceable, permitting 25.5 points per game. They are opportunistic in the takeaway game, as Tre’Davious White has three interceptions despite missing significant time with injuries.
His interception late against San Francisco last week was instrumental in saving the win for the Bills. Buffalo has the third most prolific passing attack in the NFL right now, as Allen has thrown for more than 300 yards in three of the last six contests.
The Final Word
I’m blown away by the Bills’ attack right now; if it had not been for Kyler Murray’s Hail Mary in Arizona, Buffalo would have a six-game winning streak going right now. I see the Bills not just covering but winning outright at home.
The Dart Throw: Bills 24, Steelers 14
