New York Jets Look to Hold Serve vs Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville Jaguars vs. New York Jets
Line: Jets -3 and the Total is 38 1/2
Week 14 has a lot of Wild Card and playoff implications in the NFL as some teams will clinch their division, and others will officially earn a playoff spot. With so many teams clustered together it will be interesting to see who finally makes the playoffs. However, not all game carry the same weight this close to the end of the season.
This week the struggling New York Jets will play the less than stellar Jacksonville Jaguars. Although it is not the most high profile game of the week, it could be fun for sports betting fans anyway.
This will the battle of the bad as both teams are trying to keep their head above water and get out of this season alive. Although the Jets are not in last place in the AFC East, they are tied for that position. Last week against Arizona, after going 10 for 21 and three interceptions, Mark Sanchez was finally benched.
Although their throwing game is not great, on the ground the Jets average 109 yards per game thanks to Shonn Greene, their leading rusher. Other than that these two teams are pretty evenly matched passing wise. They had an important win against Arizona last week that kept them in the AFC East bunch behind the Patriots, 7-6.
Jacksonville Jaguars Look to Ride Jones-Drew
Maurice Jones-Drew has not had a good season, while the quarterback position has been swapped between Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne. Defensively, this game has the Jets as the favorite. They have slightly better stats than the Jaguars and should have no problems containing Jones-Drew. Many betting sites do not have the odds in the Jaguars favor.
The Jaguars allow on average 410 yards per game for 28 points which is just not acceptable. The Jets are not leaps and bound better, but their defense should be able to handle the Jaguars offense relatively easily. Last week they were embarrassed by the Buffalo Bills and will be hoping to have a better turn out against another AFC East opponent.
Many online betting sites have the Jets listed as the favorites, however, these odds could change closer to game day. If Mark Sanchez is benched again, the start may go to Greg McElroy as he led the team to a win last week. This game will decided within three points, so be prepared for the most exciting bad game of the season for football betting fans.
