NFL Week 12 Preview: New England Patriots vs. New York Jets
Both New England and New York are coming off big wins in week 11, to meet in this AFC East division game in week 12. Those who enjoy NFL betting know that the Patriots will win this game, the only question will be by how much they will win. The Patriots outplayed the Indianapolis Colts last week with three defensive touchdowns to help win by over 30 points. Although the Colts are a good team, the Patriots were just better. The New York Jets have had an up and down season and now find themselves three games behind the Patriots in a three way tie in the AFC East.
Many online sports betting sites have the Patriots listed as the favorites, but where money could be made is in what the score might be. Will it be a complete blowout, winning by 30 points, or could it possibly be close. The Jets are currently not sitting in a Wild Card spot, but they are among the eight or so teams that are with a 4-6 record. The remaining games on the schedule are kind of tough as they will face off against Arizona after New England and then head to Jacksonville. But, they still have a chance as the teams they will play have similar records as they do.
Offensively, there is no contest, the Patriots run and pass much better than the Jets. Their defenses however, are slightly closer in numbers. The Patriots on average allow 22 point per game, while the Jets allow 24. If you add the Patriot factor, they will probably rack up 50 points, unless the Jets defense can pull off a miracle. Betting on the Jets could be potentially huge, however, it probably will not happen.
The Patriots may have one of the best offenses, but they certainly do not have the best defense. Last week saw an unprecedented three defensive touchdowns and four interceptions. It was probably their best game of the season, and no doubt they will want to repeat that performance. They were able to stop Colts’ quarterback Andrew Luck, so there is a real possibility that they will do the same against mediocre Mark Sanchez. After the Jets, the Patriots have a tricky schedule, but it’s nothing that they won’t be able to handle. They will play the sub-par Dolphins, and then off to face off against the 9-1 Houston Texans. The game against the Texans could possibly be a future playoff match that will be very interesting. However, first things first, beating the Jets.
