The NFL Picks Will be Interesting in the Lions and Vikings Matchup
By Charles Jay
Bookmakers have had to have been shocked at some of the NFL picks on the Lions and the Vikings. Many people thought the Detroit Lions might make big strides this season under head coach Dan Campbell. And thus far, while they haven’t roared all that loudly, they have been a rather tough “out.”
Now coming off a victory, they pay a visit to U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis to take on the Minnesota Vikings in an NFC North encounter that is set to take place at 1 PM ET on Sunday.

Detroit’s 36-27 win over the Washington Commanders was a spirited one, as they got a pretty solid game from quarterback Jared Goff, who threw for 256 yards without an interception. The atmosphere is intense around the building, as you were able to see this season as the Lions were the subject of HBO’s documentary series “Hard Knocks.”
The Vikings looked the opposite of spirited and intense as they played the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night, losing 24-7 and getting very little balance in the offense, which is unusual for a team that has a premier running back in Dalvin Cook.

NFL Picks & Preview — About the Detroit Lions
In Detroit’s victory, the Lions had 191 rushing yards. And 68 of those were supplied by Amon-re St. Brown on reverses. De’Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams also had more than 50 yards on the ground. This is kind of thing the animated Campbell definitely wants to see. And by the way, St. Brown has now scored a touchdown in six straight games.
It was a very big day for Aidan Hutchinson, the second player chosen in the draft, who had three sacks in the first half, as the Lions got out to a 22-0 lead. Yes, they did let Washington back into the game, and that was a bit of a reversal from the opener, when they made a grand comeback in losing to Philadelphia.
NFL Odds & Preview — About the Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings fell flat against the Eagles, as Kirk Cousins was intercepted three times as he ran his Monday Night Football record to 2-10. Minnesota generally looked lost. They threw the ball 46 times and ran it only eleven times, and there’s really no good explanation for that. Not to project what the Detroit secondary is going to do, but Justin Jefferson, the monster receiver, averaged only four yards per target.
And they gave up 333 passing yards to Jalen Hurts. Through the first two games, Minnesota has not been much on the defensive front either, as they are last in the league in the metrics of Adjusted Line Yards and Stuff Rate. That means the Lions might be able to muscle them.
NFL Odds & Picks — Our conclusion
Maybe you should start asking yourself whether Minnesota’s successful defensive effort against Green Bay in the opener was a result of Aaron Rodgers just having a very hard time getting on the same page as his new receivers. We do know that there is a positive vibe around the Motor City right now. And let’s not forget that Campbell ATS record – all but last week as a dog – is 13-6. We simply believe this is a good place to take the points.
