NFL Betting – The Circus Comes to Jacksonville
New York Jets @ Jacksonville Jaguars – Sunday December 9, 2012 1:00PM EST
Line: Jets -3 and the Total is 38 1/2
The online football betting experts watched in amazement as New York Jets’ rookie quarterback Greg McElroy relieve Mark Sanchez in the team’s week 13 game against the Arizona Cardinals and then marched the team down the field for the winning touchdown. It was a New York quarterback that showed confidence in what he was doing and displayed the ability to make good decisions. Jets’ fans could finally look forward to something when the team takes the field for week 14 in Jacksonville. That was until head coach Rex Ryan announced that Mark Sanchez would be back as the starting quarterback for this game. It was great news for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The betting websites can tell that the Jacksonville Jaguars just want this season to be over. The week 13 loss to the Buffalo Bills just helped to highlight a season that looks like it will not surpass its current two-win total. The team has made the switch to veteran quarterback Chad Henne, but there are no offensive weapons for Henne to get the ball to. Running back Maurice Jones-Drew is still injured and the Jaguars do not have a feature wide receiver to throw to. Fans can expect major changes in Jacksonville, but there are an awful lot of problems to fix to expect major improvements in just one off-season.
New York Jets
The legal online sports betting crowd does not understand the point in starting Sanchez again. It would be incredibly delusional and arrogant for Rex Ryan to say that the season is not over and the playoffs are still within reach. At this point, the Jets need to find the pieces that will help the team to win next season. McElroy showed a lot of promise last week and a lot of Jets fans are wondering if they will get a chance to see the “Tebow Magic.” To start Sanchez shows how far out of touch Ryan is and how far gone this season really is for the Jets.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Despite the fact that Ryan is not starting McElroy, he can still pull Sanchez at some point in the game and put McElroy in. But the betting sites doubt that it will really matter against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jacksonville has been unable to stop any team on a consistent basis all season long, and that is unlikely to change against the Jets.
The Bottom Line
The New York Jets do not need to do much to win this game. The New York defense could win this game on its own. But by not starting someone else at quarterback, Rex Ryan is denying his organization a chance to plan for the future. If the Jets feel that Sanchez is the future of the organization, then the Jets are in more trouble that originally suspected.
