Falcons Looking to Stay Hot Against a Solid Broncos Team
Denver Broncos @ Atlanta Falcons – Monday September 17, 2012 8:30PM EST
The Denver Broncos and Atlanta Falcons both had good starts to the 2012 season. The Broncos showed the online football betting world that they were for real. They took down the Steelers on opening day.
The Atlanta Falcons made a good impression by dismantling the Kansas City Chiefs. They won 40-24 on the road on the first Sunday of the season.
These two teams get ready to clash on Monday Night Football in week two, and this should be a good one.
The betting websites have been debating for months. Exactly what kind of impact Peyton Manning would have on the Denver Broncos. It turns out that Manning was able to take a good offense and make it better.
What really made the impact in the Broncos’ first game of the season was its defense. Cornerback Champ Bailey is joined by veteran cornerback Tracy Porter to create a awesome duo. It is only rivaled by Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie with the Jets.
Now that Denver has a shut down defense and a capable offense, the sky could be the limit.
Atlanta Falcons
One thing that stood out in the Falcons’ first game of the season for the online sports betting websites. It was the play of second-year wide receiver Julio Jones. With Roddy White on one side and Jones on the other, the Falcons may have one of the more potent passing offenses in the league.
Running back Michael Turner is still a threat out of the backfield. Future hall of famer Tony Gonzalez is still the team’s tight end.
This offense will be more of a test for the Denver defense than the Pittsburgh Steelers were in week one.
Denver Broncos
The Broncos seemed to struggle in the running game in week one. The running game was bailed out by the passing game.
All of the pieces that the sportsbook experts grew fond of in Denver are still there. That includes place kicker Matt Prater. The Denver offense needs to become as dominating as the defense. They then it will be difficult for the Falcons, or any NFL team, to stop the Broncos.
Especially when the playoffs roll around.
The Bottom Line
This will be one of the more entertaining games of the week and it is perfect for the Monday Night Football platform. There are plenty of marquee names in this game and a lot of talent on both sides of the ball for both teams.
It is hard to imagine the Falcons losing its home opener after having such a good game in week one on the road. But the Broncos are a strong football team that will be a handful for every team on its schedule in 2012.
