NFL Betting – Breaking Down The NFC Power Structure After Week 13
There is little doubt among NFL betting experts when it comes to which of the two conferences has been the strongest this season. The problem that most football fans comes when trying to break down the order of the NFC pyramid. While the Atlanta Falcons still have the best record at 10-1, the New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers, Chicago Bears, and even the Green Bay Packers are in the conversation for who is most likely to represent the conference on the biggest stage.
The Falcons are the straightforward online betting pick based on the fact that they have the best record, but they still haven’t done enough to convince the experts that they are legitimate. A loss to the division rival New Orleans Saints didn’t help in that respect, and that may have been their toughest test of the season so far. A home date against the Giants is right around the corner in week 15, and it should give us a better idea of what Atlanta is all about.
New York is coming off another dominant sports betting win, this time against the Green Bay Packers. While they have looked awful at times, including losses to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals in back-to-back weeks before their bye, part of that could be blamed on Hurricane Sandy and the toll it took on the team, and it should be noted that the Giants have blown away both the Packers and San Francisco 49ers. New York has a two-game lead in the NFC East, and a relatively mediocre schedule means the defending Super Bowl champions should be able to least compete again this postseason.
Meanwhile, the 49ers are fighting for the best football betting record in the NFC over on the West coast, where at 8-2-1 they are still in contention for home field advantage throughout the playoffs. That will once again play a key role on the road to the Super Bowl, but while San Francisco has taken care of its business out west they do have a pair of tough losses to the Minnesota Vikings and Giants on their resume.
As for the Bears and Packers, the winner of the NFC North could be the team to watch this postseason. Chicago has been dominant when Jay Cutler is healthy, including a 28-10 win over the Minnesota Vikings in his return this past Sunday. The Bears’ only loss this season with Cutler under center came against Green Bay in week two, and a strong finish will give them first place in the division and a chance for home field advantage in the postseason as well. There is no doubt that the NFC is the tougher of the two conferences this season, and the next five weeks will play a major role in determining which team represents the conference on the biggest stage of them all.
