NCAA Football Has no Shortage of Top QB’s
The college football betting world has all but handed the Heisman Trophy to USC quarterback Matt Barkley. Barkley has responded with some great performances to start the season. But Barkley is not the only quarterback in college football that deserves some recognition.
There are several quarterbacks that the sport betting experts think could give Barkley a run. Not just for the Heisman, but give USC a run for their money in the BCS championship game.
Let’s take a look at who some of the top quarterbacks in the country are who are not named Matt Barkley.
Landry Jones – Oklahoma
Landry Jones had a very disappointing 2011 NCAA football season, and he knows it. If there is one quarterback that has a chance at unseating Matt Barkley for the Heisman Trophy and helping his team to compete for a national title, then it is Landry Jones.
Jones trying to re-establish himself as a top college quarterback. He is also auditioning for the NFL this year. That should be enough to bring out the best in Jones. It could mean millions of dollars in his future.
Geno Smith – West Virginia
The legal online sports betting websites will never forget the seven touchdowns that Geno Smith threw in last year’s Orange Bowl. That was a NCAA Football game for the ages. That was last season. Smith prepares for his senior year and hopes to help West Virginia find more bowl success by the time he is done.
He may not have quite enough stats to knock Barkley off the Heisman mountain. One thing is for sure, Smith is an exciting player that gives his team a chance to win whenever he is on the field.
Tajh Boyd – Clemson
People often forget that Tajh Boyd was only a sophomore last season. He went on to lead Clemson to a very successful 2011 campaign. The football betting experts will be wondering all season long if Boyd will declare for the NFL draft.
Will it be when this season is over or if he will stick around for his senior season.
Clemson has a good team, but it is not likely to put the talent around Boyd that would make the Tigers a national champion. This should be the last season that Clemson fans get the chance to see Tajh Boyd throw touchdowns for the Tigers before Boyd enters the NFL.
Tyler Wilson – Arkansas
Tyler Wilson is always the odd man out when people talk about the top college football quarterbacks in 2012. He should definitely be part of the conversation. Wilson will look to be the top passer in the SEC again in 2012. He looks to be a leader in NCAA Football this year.
He is going to be the driving force that helps the Razorbacks to get past the Petrino scandal that seemed to dominate conversation all summer long.
