NBA Playoffs Game 2: Toronto Raptors vs Boston Celtics

Toronto Raptors Basketball

Toronto Raptors Look to Even the Series

Let’s get ready for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals between the Toronto Raptors and the Boston Celtics. The defending champs from Canada, look to even the series after an uneventful double-digit loss against the Celtics on Sunday afternoon.

We believe the Raptors are going to have big games from their star players with the hopes of getting the win, tying the series and handing Boston their first loss of the Playoffs.

TIME: 4:30 p.m. ET. TV: ESPN; BETTING LINE: RAPTORS -1.5 / TOTAL 217.5 *

Some would say Game 1 was a bit of a “yawner” as the Raptors looked out of sync, especially Paskal Siakam and Fred VanVleet, who had 13 and 11 points respectively, which is way under their normal performances. This comes as Toronto’s first loss of the playoffs as they breezed by the Brooklyn Nets in a 1st Round sweep.

We have to hand it to the Raptors though, as they’ve been greatly coached by Nick Nurse, keeping everybody’s mouth shut, especially the critics who said that without Kawhi Leonard, they’d have no chance to do anything at all this season. So, we have to give props to them for learning to play team basketball and further developing their role players, turning them into fully sufficient chess pieces. The problem is, they just weren’t clicking against the Celtics on Sunday.

The Boston Celtics look to remain undefeated during the NBA Playoffs

The Celtics are hitting their strides and beating their opponents by double-digit averages. They completely embarrassed Joel Embid and Philadelphia, sending them packing and straight into a rebuilding mindset this offseason. I guess “Trust the Process” took its toll on their true 76ers fanbase, and are now calling for heads.

The victory against the Toronto Raptors in Game 1 didn’t really have an overwhelming performance by a particular player, but came more of a team effort. They had 6 players with double figures and their highest scorer was Marcus Smart and Jayson Tatum with 21 points each. You also need to take into consideration that they are playing without highly coveted Gordon Hayward, who is out with a season-ending injury.

Depending on how you look at this upcoming game, it should be a more competitive encounter than their first postseason meeting. The Raptors will focus more on improving their 3 point shooting percentages while getting more from Siakam, VanVleet, and Kyle Lowry. The other factor in this is that they NEED to even the series, as going down 2-0 is never good as their odds of making a comeback are pretty low.

The Celtics, on the other hand, will need an explosive game from Jayson Tatum or Kemba Walker, as they are the two players who usually take on the offensive load. They also need better scoring output from their bench, as in Game 1 they only had 22 points altogether. Hey, and why not call on Tacko Fall for a little playing time?

This, That, and a Dart Throw

Our betting recommendations come in the color green, so if you are looking to place a wager, make sure to take the Celtics. They are playing extremely well and looking to be hitting on all cylinders, especially with their team chemistry. Even though the Raptors are defending champs, the Celtics are a young team with enough playoff experience to know what to do to take over a series.

The Dart Throw: Celtics 108 – 102
