Can the Mavericks Complete the Comeback vs Suns in NBA Playoffs?

The NBA Playoffs, you just don’t know what will happen. Just when it looked to BetAnySports patrons as if the Phoenix Suns might be able to laugh off the Dallas Mavericks, they got a sobering reminder as to who they were dealing with.
And when we say that, we mean the guy who is quite possibly the greatest player in the world today.

NBA Playoffs Betting — And who is that?
Why, it’s Luka Doncic, of course.
Doncic was the third player taken in the 2018 draft, behind Marvin Bagley and Deandre Ayton, who will oppose him on Sunday night. And he has become a dominant force. With 33 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists in a 113-86 win in Game 6, he brought his averages for the series up to 32.2, 9.8, and 7.4, respectively.
He is so dominant within the context of this offense that perhaps Dallas isn’t exhibiting as much ball movement as they did at times against Utah in the previous series, as they stand and marvel at him. And while the Mavericks average 37.2 triples attempted during the regular campaign, that number is down to 29 for the series.

Of course, it’s probably in the best interests of the Mavericks to get off as many three-point attempts as possible, as long as they can make a respectable percentage. During this particular series, they have scored 13 more points per game from downtown than have the Suns.
And it’s a pretty safe bet that they are going to hoist up more long balls in this deciding game. The Suns are one of those NBA teams that does not necessarily rely on hitting the deep perimeter shots, but you really have to deal with them in mid-range and in the paint, as they make more two-pointers than anyone.

When you look at what has happened on the glass, at both ends of the floor, that may provide a heck of an argument as to why Phoenix is favored. We have outrebounded Dallas by 58 (almost ten per game), with a 63-45 edge on the offensive boards.
It was known coming into the series at Dallas did not have the kind of size to match up with Phoenix, and so they had to compensate in other ways. Of course, if they can’t be successful from a long-range, which happened in Game 5, as they missed 20 of 24 shots from beyond the three-point arc over the last three quarters, then there’s really nothing they can do to extract an advantage, except maybe put the ball into Doncic’s hands and hope for the best. Okay, or look for Jalen Brunson (who averaged over 27 ppg against Utah) to beat upsome Phoenix guard from a physical standpoint.

Phoenix is a relative newcomer into the elite company of the NBA. When they conducted the end of the season in the bubble a couple of years ago, they won eight games in a row, but that was not enough to qualify them for the postseason. Last year they rallied to get to the NBA finals. So the ascent has been quick.
But as a group there just hasn’t been a lot of playoff success. Consequently, it’s been pointed out that Doncic, because of his extensive experience overseas, is the guy who has played in these pressure games a lot more there any of the other key players on the floor. That might be with the exception of Chris Paul, who has done a great job shooting the basketball (56% from the floor, 50% from downtown), but has not been as sure as he’s usually been when taking care of the rock (22 turnovers against 36 assists).

We understand that Phoenix has won its last two games at home in this series by a total of 50 points, but we will count on Doncic to prevent this one from getting too far out of hand. So we are taking the points.
