NBA Odds: Portland Steals Home-Court in Heated First Round Matchup
The Portland Trail Blazers are so-called underdogs in their first-round matchup with the Houston Rockets this postseason, but that hasn’t prevented them from breaking out in front of their opponents in the No. 4/No. 5 Western Conference matchup. Can they beat the NBA odds all over again in Game 2 of their opening series?

Coming in as the No. 5 seed, the Blazers had given up home-court advantage to Dwight Howard and the Rockets. A victory in Texas over the weekend, however, shifted the numbers back in Portland’s favor. The Blazers lead 1-0 in the series and look poised to protect it heading forward.
Still with only 33/1 odds of winning the NBA championship, the Blazers will need continued production from team MVP LaMarcus Aldridge (who dropped 46 points and 18 boards in their playoff debut) and second-year guard Damian Lillard.
The Rockets may sit higher on the NBA futures with 22/1 odds, but both fall in the same category of second-tier threats to win the 2014 title.
Can Houston battle back and prove that they’re the higher choice in the sportsbook for a reason? A loss in Game 2 would mean trouble as the series heads to Oregon for Games 3 and 4.
