NBA Odds: Grizzlies, Mavs Battle with Playoff Matchup on the Line
While it seems as though the Dallas Mavericks and Memphis Grizzlies will have their work cut out for them when the postseason unfolds, a quick look at the final day of NBA betting action reveals that it begins even sooner than that. The two squads are tied for the No. 7 seed in the West and will compete against one another on Wednesday for a better idea of who they’ll face in the playoffs.

While oddsmakers and fans alike scramble to make sense of the final taste of regular season play, the Grizz and Mavs will be hoping to avoid a dreaded No. 1 versus No. 8 matchup against the 62-win (and counting) San Antonio Spurs. The winner will fall in at No. 7 and match up against the 58-win Oklahoma City Thunder (not that it?s much of a consolation).
The Grizzlies have established themselves as a veteran force in the West over the past few seasons and will need guys like Zach Randolph (17.2 PPG, 10.0 RPG) and Mike Conley (17.1 PPG, 6.1 APG) to continue to produce if they hope to do anything with their 66/1 NBA Futures.
It’s worth noting that, in the 2011 postseason the Grizz knocked off the Spurs but fell to the Thunder in the second round; then in 2013 they knocked off the Thunder but fell to the Spurs in the Western Conference Finals.
The Mavericks, not to be overshadowed, have 66/1 odds of their own. And don?t forget that while Dallas’ roster may lack depth compared to Memphis’, they do have the advantage of having won the 2011 NBA title. (For those keeping track at home, Dallas has won and lost a series to both San Antonio and Oklahoma City since 2009).
