MLB Odds: A’s Ride Momentum into ALDS Clash with Detroit
The Oakland Athletics are the hottest team in baseball, and when it comes to the MLB moneyline, that alone can lead to postseason success. This Sunday they’ll get the opportunity to ride their AL West momentum into an American League Division Series clash with the AL Central leader Detroit Tigers.

After catching up to and surpassing the Texas Rangers in their division, the A’s have the confidence to live up to their blossoming MLB odds. According to Bovada, Oakland has 15/2 odds of winning the World Series despite being no more than a fringe wild card contender for the majority of the 2012 season.
The Tigers, in contrast, with the least amount of wins of any playoff contender – but with Triple Crown winner Miguel Cabrera, let’s not forget – sit higher than the A’s at 6/1 on the MLB futures.
The best of five series will start in Detroit for two games before heading to the Bay Area for the final three.
With wins in nine of their last 11, it’s hard not to favor the homeside Athletics, but their success is far from guaranteed. Although Oakland had made the post season five times since 2000 prior to this season, they’ve only moved on to the ALCS once.
