Rockies Look to Get Back on Track in San Fran
The Colorado Rockies and the San Francisco Giants clash in a three-game set this week with Game 1 from San Francisco on Monday night slated for a 10 p.m. start on ESPN. BetAnySports opened the Rockies as -132 road favorites with the total set at eight. The line is now Rockies -114 and the total is down to 7.5.
Colorado got doubled up on Sunday in a 6-3 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers as a heavy +225 road underdog. This followed losses in the first two games as part of a 5-5 record in their last 10 games. The Rockies are 40-37 overall and 13 games in back of Los Angeles in the NL West standings. They have gone 18-22 on the road this season and they are 3-3 in the first six games of this current nine-game road trip.
The Rockies remain at the top of the list in the NL when it comes to scoring runs. Through their first 77 games, this lineup has been able to belt out an average of 5.6 runs. Pitching has been a whole other story with a 5.15 staff ERA that is ranked last in the league. Jon Gray will be on the mound for Colorado on Monday night. The right hander has a 4.18 ERA with a 1.37 WHIP through 15 previous starts.
Giants are Playing Better Baseball
San Francisco is bringing up the rear in the NL West at 33-43, but it is an even 5-5 over its last 10 games. The Giants took two of three games from Arizona over the weekend to wrap up a seven-game road trip. They open this seven-game homestand at 15-21 in 36 previous home games this year. The total has gone OVER or ended as a PUSH in eight of their last 10 games on BetAnySports’ closing line.
With an average of 3.9 runs per game, San Francisco is ranked second-to-last in the NL in scoring. The Giants improve to 12th on the list in pitching with a staff ERA of 4.68. Drew Pomeranz will get the start in this series opener. The left hander has a 7.09 ERA and a 1.78 WHIP after allowing seven earned runs in 4 1/3 innings against the Dodgers his last time out.
I am going with the Rockies as road favorites on Monday night in a game that should also go OVER BetAnySports’ eight-run total line.
