Giants Playing Quality Baseball Entering Series
The San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers kickoff an extended four-game series this Monday night at Dodger Stadium in a 10 p.m. (ET) start on ESPN. BetAnySports has opened Los Angeles as a heavy -228 favorite with the total set at 8.5.
The Giants lost two of three at home in an early June series against the Dodgers. Since that point they have gone 4-1 in their last five games. The brief four-game winning streak came to an end on Sunday with a 5-3 loss to Milwaukee as +148 home underdogs. San Francisco starts this seven-game road trip with a road record of 15-18 as part of an overall record of 30-39 that is ranked 14th in the 15-team National League.
The fact that the Giants’ lineup was able to produce a total of 23 runs in that recent four-game winning streak was a positive sign, but it is still averaging just 3.9 runs a game on the year. San Francisco is ninth in the NL in pitching with a staff ERA of 4.54. Tyler Beede is scheduled to get the start on Monday night. This will be the right hander’s fifth start of the season and he is 0-2 with an ERA of 8.06 and a 2.06 WHIP.
Dodgers Running Away with NL West
The Dodgers continue to set the pace in the NL West at 48-24 after taking three of four at home against the Chicago Cubs this past weekend. They improved to an impressive 28-8 at home this season. The total stayed UNDER BetAnySports’ closing line in the final two games against Chicago and it has stayed UNDER in five of the Dodgers’ last seven outings.
The combination of 5.2 runs scored a game with a league-best 3.25 staff ERA makes the Dodgers the team to beat in the entire NL. They have six more wins then the next best team in the standings. Look for Kenta Maeda to get the start for Los Angeles on Monday night. The right hander is 7-3 through 13 previous starts with a 3.89 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP.
Betting against the home team in the series opener does not make all that much sense, but the risk/reward in the Dodgers’ inflated -250 money line offers little value. What does make sense is betting the OVER 8.5 runs on BetAnySports’ total line.
