The Nationals actually sat Strasburg three weeks ago and Washington was still able to finish the season with four-game lead over the Atlanta Braves for the NL East pennant. Any team that can sit its ace and still put one of the most potent starting lineups in baseball on the mound is a pretty powerful team.
The only thing that other NL teams can hope for is that Bryce Harper keeps showing his youth and losing his temper as the playoffs open. A focused Harper gives the Nationals the best offense in baseball. A distracted Harper could open the Nationals up to getting surprised in the playoffs.
