Golden Knights are Very Good for Expansion Team as the Play Maple Leafs
The Las Vegas Golden Knights and the Toronto Maple Leafs will both be trying to pick up a win on Monday when they battle at Air Canada Centre. The drop of the puck is scheduled for 7:00 pm EST.
Oddsmakers opened the Maple Leafs as -230-moneyline favorites versus the Golden Knights, while the game’s total opened at 6. Now they Leafs are -200 and the total has held steady.
Toronto and Vegas have struggled recently after having strong starts to the season. The Golden Knights made a stride in the right direction Saturday with a 5-4 win over the Ottawa Senators to end a three-game losing streak.
Monday’s game will be the fifth game of the Golden Knight’s six-game road trip. The three losses did not shake the new team’s belief in itself.
The Golden Knights won eight of their first nine games.
Golden Knights goaltender Maxime Lagace is expected to start against the Maple Leafs on Monday. He got his first career win last time out.
Maple Leafs Looking to Get Back on Winning Ways
The Maple Leafs are glad to be home after completing a 1-3 road trip. It ended with a 6-4 loss to the St. Louis Blues on Saturday. They won won seven of their first nine games and then started playing inconsistent.
Toronto was expected to do well this season after making the playoffs with a young group last season. They looked good starting the season. They have been springing leaks defensively.
Maple Leafs goaltender Frederik Andersen has been criticized at times. Left winger Matt Martin had a career-best three assists on Saturday.
