Legislature Stalls Texas Sports Betting Bill
There will be no choice to legalize gambling in Texas in the vote this year. According to lobbyists, lawmakers stalled the Texas sports betting bill. Representative John Kuempel said that lawmakers don’t have time to pass it this session.
There is less than a month left in the current legislative session. However, none of the gambling expansion bills in Texas made it through the first hurdle. According to white label sports betting reports, the state constitution bans most gambling activities. Thus, legislation to amend the constitution requires a two-thirds vote from lawmakers. It also needs the support of voters to become law.
Lawmakers are not in a hurry to pass any gambling expansion bills after learning that gambling revenues would be lower than the initial estimates. Thus, people don’t need to know how to be a bookie for dummies in the state yet.
