John Kuempel said that lawmakers don’t have time to pass it this session.
There is less than a month left in the current legislative session. However, none of the gambling expansion bills in Texas made it through the first hurdle. According to
white label sports betting reports, the state constitution bans most gambling activities. Thus, legislation to amend the constitution requires a two-thirds vote from lawmakers. It also needs the support of voters to become law.

Texas Sports Betting Bill
Kuempel and Senator Carol Alvarado believe that momentum is on their side. The senator partnered with him on the gambling expansion. Also, Alvarado is more optimistic than ever before.

online sports gambling news reports, Kuempel and Alvarado’s bills would allow voters to choose whether to amend the constitution to legalize casinos and sports betting. Their goal is to allow sports wagering and casino resorts in major cities.
Also, the bills would allow Indian tribes to expand into full-fledged gambling that includes slot machines. At present, they can’t offer slots on their land.
Several significant sports teams support sports betting. The bill would allow Texas to give out permits to online sports wagering platforms such as FanDuel or DraftKings. However, they need to partner with horse tracks or professional sports franchises. Some licenses allow only mobile wagering, while others would allow retail betting at tracks and stadiums.
According to the bill, ten percent of the winnings would go to the state to fund public schools.
