Las Vegas Bowl: Houston Plays San Diego State

2016 Las Vegas Bowl

Cougars have New Head Coach for Bowl Game

The Las Vegas Bowl features the San Diego State Aztecs and the Houston Cougars. They will both be gunning for a victory on Saturday when they meet at Sam Boyd Stadium.

Oddsmakers currently have the Cougars listed as 5½-point favorites versus the Aztecs, while the game’s total is sitting at 53.

In their last action, Houston was a 48-44 loser on the road against Tigers. They failed to cover the -5.5-point spread as favorites, while the combined score (92) was profitable news for OVER bettors. Houston promoted offensive coordinator Major Applewhite to become coach after Tom Herman departed to become Texas coach.

San Diego State won its last outing, a 27-24 result against Cowboys on December 03. San Diego State failed to cover in that game as a -7.5-point favorite, while the 51 combined points took the game UNDER the total. Donnel Pumphrey (6,290 yards) needs 108 yards to surpass Wisconsin’s Ron Dayne (6,397) as the all-time leading career rusher in FBS history. Ron Dayne, speaking on the Wisconsin State Journal’s “The Red Zone” podcast last month, said he believes he’s getting shortchanged
