Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (Race #9 – Post Time 5:00 pm ET)
#3 Cave Rock (4/5 odds, by Bob Baffert, with Juan J. Hernandez) knows not the meaning of failure, as can be easily attested by a quick look at his perfect 3-0 record, reeling up his Maiden at Del Mar from mid-August, the also Del Mar-situated Runhappy Futurity (G1), and more recently the Grade 1, American Pharoah Stakes at Santa Anita.
He will have to contend with Todd Pletcher’s strong suitor #4 Forte (4/1 odds, with Irad Ortiz Jr.) who also has three wins to his name but is just one up his top foe in terms of overall presentations. His latest two wins consist of the Keeneland-hosted Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity (G1) and the also-Grade 1, Hopeful Stakes at Saratoga. Chad Brown’s #6 Blazing Sevens (with Flavien Prat) the winner of Belmont’s last Champagne Stakes edition will face a crowded start from the core of the gates. He’s now listed 3rd-best bet with 6/1 odds.
