New York Giants Look to Put 2017 In Rear View Mirror
The 2017 NFL Season is thankfully over for the New York Giants and Cleveland Browns. They were the two worst teams in the NFL last season. They face one another in Week 1 of the 2018 preseason on Thursday night. Cleveland is going on the road to play the New York Giants.
Game time from MetLife Stadium is set for 7 p.m. with the NFL Network carrying the game live.
BetAnySports opened the Giants as 2.5-point home favorites with the total set at 34. The line is now Cleveland -1 and the total is at 35.
Cleveland failed to win a game last season at 0-16 straight-up. They were a costly 4-12 record against the spread. This followed a perfect 4-0 record SU and ATS in the preseason. That included a 10-6 victory against the Giants as a two-point underdog at home.
The closing total line in that game was 37.5 points.
Baker Mayfield Era Ready to Start in Cleveland?
It looks like the Browns will go with veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor as their starter for Week 1 of the regular season. Right now most eyes will be on Baker Mayfield. Especially tonight in NFL Preseason Week 1.
He was the first overall pick in this year’s draft. The former Oklahoma standout should see some substantial playing time in this game.
Another interesting addition through the draft was former Georgia running back
Nick Chubb.
New York Giants are Ready to Move On
The Giants won 11 games in 2016 before plummeting to 3-13 SU last season. It was a rapid reversal of fortunes. New York went 7-9 ATS last season. The total stayed UNDER
BetAnySports’ closing line in six of its last seven games of the 2017 regular season.
The Giants went 2-2 SU in the 2017 preseason with a 1-3 record ATS. The total was evenly split as well (2-2).
With the second overall pick in this year’s draft, new head coach Pat Shurmur decided to address the offense’s issues in the ground game. He selected former Penn State running back Saquon Barkley.
He should get a chance to show what he can do at the next level tonight. Eli Manning might see some action under center as well. The Giants are probably more interested in watching Davis Webb and Kyle Lauletta run the offense at quarterback.
Each of these teams is looking to quickly put the 2017 season in the rear view mirror. It is going take some time to turn things around. This should keep scoring to a minimum this Thursday night. Take the UNDER 35 on BetAnySports’ total line in this one.
