Through five games apiece, both the South Carolina Gamecocks and Georgia Bulldogs have looked strong in 2012. Neither, however, have had an opportunity to test their mettle against a top ranked club. Here’s their chance.
With the SEC East Division up for grabs, and only No. 10 Florida a significant threat, the arguably biggest hurdle that either South Carolina or Georgia will face this season is each other. Although it was Georgia representing the division in the conference championship against LSU last season (they lost), there’s no guarantee that they’ll squeeze past the Gamecocks a second time.
Expect Georgia (10/1 odds of winning the BCS) to continue to milk Aaron Murray for all he’s got, while Carolina (20/1 NCAA futures) sits on what’s fast becoming one of the most impressive QB tandems in the country.
If the Gamecocks can find a way to stifle Georgia’s running game, we may see an even matchup that comes down to whichever team can thrive more in the air.
