Barty said that she wants to pursue other dreams during retirement. It came several weeks after she won the Australian Open. However, a PPH bookie offered odds of 6/4 that she will be back to defend her title in the 2023 Australian Open.

In June 2019, Barty captured the top spot in women’s tennis. Also, she never gave it up until she announced her retirement. The announcement shocked everyone, including her former doubles partner Casey Dellacqua.

According to sports handicapping reports, Barty earned $23.8 million in prize money playing professional tennis. Also, she made millions from sponsorships. Hence, she’s the 14th best-paid female athlete in history.

In 2021, she earned $3 million from sponsorship deals. Also, Barty was the eighth highest-paid female player with $6.9 million. Her total career earnings were estimated to be $53 million. Barty contemplated retiring after she won the Wimbledon last year.
