BetAnySports’ MLB Pick of the Week
Chicago Cubs vs. New York Mets- Tuesday, June 30
The Chicago Cubs and the New York Mets kick-off a three-game set at Citi Field this Tuesday night in a nationally broadcast matchup on ESPN. BetAnySports has opened the Cubs as even +100 road underdogs with the money line odds on New York set at -110. The total in this game has been set at 7.
The Cubs will be looking to snap a five-game skid that includes a three-game sweep at the hands of St. Louis this past weekend on the road. They are now 39-35 on the year with a road record of 19-20. The total has stayed UNDER in six of their last seven games behind a lineup that has only managed to score a total of 11 runs in those seven contests. On the year, Chicago is ranked 10th in the National League in scoring with an average of 3.99 runs a game.
Look for Kyle Kendricks to get the start for the Cubs on Tuesday night. The right-hander gave-up two home runs in his last start against the Los Angeles Dodgers to get pinned with his third loss over his past five starts. He is now 2-4 on the year with an ERA of 4.46 and a 1.22 WHIP.
The Mets’ current winning streak stands at four games following a three-game weekend sweep of Cincinnati at home. This recent reversal in fortunes snapped a seven-game road losing streak dating back to an 8-0 loss to Toronto on June 17 as +180 road underdogs. The total has stayed UNDER in 11 of their last 13 games as a direct result of a lineup that has only managed to score a total of 29 runs during this same stretch. New York remains just 2.5 games off the pace set by Washington in the NL East with an overall record of 40-27. It has been extremely productive at home with a record of 29-11.
Jonathon Niese has been penciled-in as the Mets starter on Tuesday night. He has had his issues on the mound lately as well with five losses in his last eight starts. The right-hander did hold Milwaukee to two earned runs on eight hits in his last start, but his ERA on the year is still an elevated 4.12 with a 1.52 WHIP.
I actually like the Cubs as road underdogs on BetAnySports’ money line odds, but my pick for this one is the UNDER on a total line of 7 in a matchup of two teams really struggling to score runs right now.
