Lopez performance in Barcelona was disappointing as he suffered to defeat Ilhan after being clearly outplayed by the eventual finalist Pablo Andujar. Losing against Andujar on clay could be considered as normal, taking into account the form Pablo showed in Barcelona, but Lopez looked very vulnerable with his serve. It is obvious that he becomes an average player without the help of his serve and even a poor one when the match is played on clay.

Haase beat the spaniard both times they met in clay courts.
