The Greek Freak Can Help Bam Adebayo
Miami Heat star center Bam Adebayo deserves consideration for the NBA Most Improved Player Award. Adebayo is having a breakout season in his first full year as a starter. As of this writing Adebayo is averaging career-highs with 16.1 points, 10.6 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.2 steals in 34.4 minutes over 64 games.
Adebayo (plus-2.0 Defensive Box Plus/Minus) has been very effective on defense, he even held his own against reigning NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Heat won 105-89 against the Bucks on March 2 and Adebayo shined at both ends of the court.
The third-year center had with 14 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and three blocks and was able to hold Antetokounmpo to just 13 points on 6-for-18 from the field and 0-for-4 from distance. The Bucks and the Heat might cross paths in the playoffs and that would be a fun to watch clash. Adebayo recently said that he wants to work out with Giannis one day.
The Athletic reported that Giannis invited Adebayo to work out last summer but the busy schedules of both players got in the way and it didn’t happen.
Bam Adebayo expressed his respect for The Greek Freak:
“It just shows the respect level we have for one another. That’s a big thing about this league. When you get respect from somebody, you can work out with them. Nothing is wrong with it, not going to blow it out of proportion. I’m pretty sure in the near future we will work out together. I’ll learn some tips from him, he’ll learn some tips from me. That’s how this NBA goes.”
