Falcons and Panthers Battle for NFC South Lead

If familiarity breeds contempt, there should be animosity aplenty on Sunday when the Carolina Panthers and the Atlanta Falcons meet at Georgia Dome.  They will be battling for the early season division lead as the Panthers are off to a shockingly slow start.

Oddsmakers currently have the Panthers listed as 3-point favorites versus the Falcons, while the game’s total is sitting at 49.

The Atlanta Falcons were a 45-32 winner in their most recent outing on the road against the New Orleans Saints. They covered the +2.5-point spread as underdogs, while the total score (77) made winners of OVER bettors.

Carolina lost its last outing, a 22-10 result against the Minnesota Vikings on September 25. The Panthers failed to cover in that game as a -6-point favorite, while the 32 combined points took the game UNDER the total.

Carolina Panthers:
Team record: 1-2 SU,1-2 ATS
Carolina is 18-4 SU in its last 22 games
The total has gone OVER in 5 of Carolina’s last 7 games
Carolina is 0-5 ATS in its last 5 games on the road
