Altuve Back in Lineup for Astros
The Toronto Blue Jays and the Houston Astros will battle on Saturday at Minute Maid Park. Astros manager A.J. Hinch gave All-Star second baseman Jose Altuve the day off on Friday night against the Toronto Blue Jays. Hinch remains adamant that his top players need occasional days off. This is to lessen the potential for injuries from overwork. Altuve played in 105 of the Astros’ 108 games before this scheduled rest.
Altuve is hitting .365 with 16 home runs and 62 RBIs. He was named American League Player of the Month this week. He recorded his 20th three-hit game on Thursday night against the Tampa Bay Rays. Altuve leads the majors in batting and has 151 hits.
The Blue Jays will pin their hopes on the pitching of right hander Marco Estrada in this game. Estrada has a 4-7 record and a 5.19 ERA this season.
It’ll be Charlie Morton toeing the rubber for the Astros in this contest. Right hander Morton is 9-4 with a 3.77 ERA so far this season.
Oddsmakers opened the Astros as -160-moneyline favorites versus the Blue Jays, while the game’s total opened at 9.5. The line is now Houston -170 on the moneyline. The total is now at 9.
Houston was a 16-7 winner in the opener of this series. Bettors on Houston at -161 on the moneyline collected their winnings from that game, while the total score (23) sent OVER bettors home happy as well.
