America’s Game of the Week Sees Cowboys Looking for 4th Straight Win
America’s Game of the Week on FOX Sports has the Dallas Cowboys and the Atlanta Falcons clashing this Sunday. They battle at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA. Kick-off is set for 4:25 pm EST.
Oddsmakers opened the Falcons as -3-point favorites versus the Cowboys, while the game’s total opened at 53. The line still shows the Falcons as a 3-point favorite, but the total has been bet down to 49.
The Cowboys and Falcons have struggled to find their rhythm this season with their high-powered offenses. They are looking up at rivals leading their respective divisions because of their struggles.
Dallas has started to regain its momentum from last season. The Cowboys have won three straight.
Atlanta has lost 4 out of 5 because their offense can’t score in the second half.
Atlanta has to find Offensive Mojo
The Falcons were a 20-17 loser in their most recent outing on the road against the Carolina Panthers. They failed to cover the -3-point spread as favorites, while the total score (37) made winners of UNDER bettors.
Despite an arsenal of proven offensive players, the Falcons couldn’t move the chains last week. Atlanta converted just 4 of 15 opportunities on third and fourth down. Two of those failures were in the fourth quarter.
Injuries have plagued the Falcons offense through the first half of the season. The huge drop in offensive production could also be in part due to the departure of Kyle Shanahan this offseason. Atlanta lost as a favorite last week. They are just 2-9 ATS in its last 11 games coming off a loss as a favorite.
Cowboys Without Elliott in America’s Game of the Week
Dallas was a 28-17 winner in its last match at home against the Kansas City Chiefs. They covered the -2.5-point spread as favorites, while the total score of 45 sent UNDER bettors to the payout window.
Dallas has to continue winning in order to keep up with the NFC East-leading Philadelphia Eagles. The Cowboys trail Philadelphia by two games. The NFC East rivals still have both of their head-to-head matchups ahead. Dallas can’t afford to fall further behind in the standings even with those two meetings on the schedule.
Dak Prescott is shining in his second season in the NFL. Prescott has completed 63 percent of his passes this season. The QB has 1,818 yards with 16 touchdowns and four interceptions.
The Ezekiel Elliott saga is still hanging over Dallas. Elliott will be starting a six-game suspension for violation of the NFL’s personal conduct policy.
