Nets and Celtics Should be a Battle in 2022 NBA Playoffs

Could the NBA playoffs bettors at BetOnline have seen a more interesting turnaround this season than that of the Boston Celtics? At mid-season, they were looking like an also-ran. But to say they surged from that point forward was a vast understatement. They finished the regular campaign tied for the second best record in the Eastern Conference.
The Brooklyn Nets were supposed to be in position to contend for the #1 seed in the East, but a couple of things happened along the way to derail that. But there is a chance for redemption now, and it can be argued that they have the two most explosive offensive players on the floor.
Boston prevailed in Game 1 of the playoff series between the Celtics and Nets, but it was only by a score of 115-114. And the Nets will be expected to make adjustments, especially with the way they free up Kevin Durant for better shots. Game 2 will take place on Wednesday night at 7 PM ET at the TD Garden.

In the last 32 games of the season, the Celtics went 26-6, and in terms of efficiency, they were first on both offense and defense.So naturally, the change in direction was dramatic.
With eighteen of their 51 wins coming by 20 points or more, the Celtics knew how to be explosive. And they certainly succeeded in breaking down Brooklyn’s defensive setup during the four meetings,. scoring 121.6 points per 100 possessions.
What makes Boston so strong defensively is that they can out a number of people on the floor at any given time who can guard multiple positions. That facilitates switching a lot better.
But that status of 6-9 center Robert Williams, a dynamic contributor (10 ppg, 9.6 rpg,2.2 bpg) has been the subject of doubt, and his absence hurts. Williams is known as one of the best in the league at protecting the rim, and when he was on the court against Brooklyn this season, Boston’s Net Rating was +24.4.

The Celtics’ defensive strategy was built around throwing some road blocks in front of Kevin Durant, and that succeeded, holding him to nine of 24 shooting from the floor while forcing him into six turnovers. The idea was to have him taking them from disadvantageous places. or deny him the ball entirely by fronting him and harassing him from behind. You see, they know that he is going to take shots, whether he’s hitting them or not. So they were able to keep the Nets’ offense off-balance by preventing him from being at his best.

Even with that stellar defensive effort, it only resulted in a one-point victory, and Brooklyn actually got the cover. Durant took a last-second shot that could have actually turned this into a Nets’ win.
What makes it hard for Boston, as good as they are on defense, is that they have to figure a way to curtail what Kyrie irving can do as well. And it is difficult to pull that kind of double duty.
With some time to adjust, we’re expecting something better this time around. So we will take the points here.
