Butler and Villanova Look to Right Their Ships
The No. 10 Villanova Wildcats hit the road on Wednesday to take on the No. 19 Butler Bulldogs in a key Big East matchup.
If you have been following college basketball at all this season, you’ll find that the top teams in the country have been taking turns losing games.
It seems to be as much of a level playing field as ever, and that can give anyone a chance to win this year’s national championship.

Villanova and Butler both took home losses against unranked Big East opponents in their last outings, making this contest even more crucial.
Even though they both just experienced back-breaking losses, these are still two of the best teams in the country. We’ll break down the matchup and give you a prediction for this game.
Villanova is Quieting Critics
Villanova has proven many critics wrong in recent years, including their most recent March Madness run a few years back.
The thing about Villanova is, it doesn’t have a thing that it is good at. The Wildcats’ defense is good, not great, and their offense is good, not great.
On the surface, they seem like one of the most middle-of-the-pack teams in college basketball.
So why are they as good as they are? Maybe it is their coaching, as Jay Wright has been criminally underrated as a head coach.
What I think it comes from is their team play. The Wildcats are all about sharing the ball, and that shows itself with five players averaging in double digits.
Playing together and knowing who your best five are is a crucial component to being a successful team. The Wildcats are well aware of who their best lineup is on the floor.
That is why Villanova was able to beat Butler by double digits just a couple of weeks ago. The Wildcats dominated both halves with ease, and that great Butler defense could not hold up.
We’ll have to see if the same remains true this time around.

This, That and a College Basketball Dart Throw
When previewing this game a couple of weeks back, I raved about Butler’s defense and how successful it was at clamping down on its opponents.
Well, I was wrong, and Villanova absolutely torched them for 40 minutes of basketball.
With their most recent loss to Providence, it seems like the Bulldogs are struggling on that end of the floor more than ever.
Their season average is holding opponents to under 60 points per game, but in their last five games, the Bulldogs are giving up 73.8 points per game.
Without its defense, I don’t think Butler has nearly enough offense to remain relevant in the standings.
Maybe something changed internally, but I think the Bulldogs are going to need help if this is a game that is going to turn it around for them.
The good news is that they’re at home in this game, but going against Villanova is no joke, as they learned just a couple of weeks back.
If the defense can get on track, I think Butler can slow the game down and play at its pace. Without that, I don’t think the Bulldogs stand a chance.
By the looks of the spread, our friends over at VietBet have Butler favored in this contest at -3 and the total is sitting at 131. All U.S. players are accepted at VietBet.
The Bulldogs’ defensive woes have worked against them in their last five games, and I don’t think this is the time for them to turn it around.
Villanova has too many weapons and knows exactly what it is as a team. I’m going with the Wildcats in this contest, and I think they will win by double digits again.
The Dart Throw: Villanova Wildcats +2.5.
