UFC Betting – Velasquez Could Be Unstoppable As UFC Heavyweight Champion In 2013

Betting On Ufc       It took just 64 seconds for Junior Dos Santos to hand Cain Velasquez his first loss and steal his UFC Heavyweight Championship a year ago. 12 months later Velasquez was back in the Octagon with an eye on handing Dos Santos just the second loss of his career and reclaiming his title at UFC 155, and this time he wasn’t about to be stopped. Velasquez dominated Dos Santos for a full five rounds before eventually being awarded back the title via unanimous decision, and the only surprise by the end of the fight was that it had gone all the way to the final bell. The 30-year old American made a statement with his sports betting performance, and there may not be anyone in the division right now that can stop him.   Velasquez took control of the fight early, landing several big blows in the opening round and knocking Dos Santos off of his feet. It never really looked as though Dos Santos recovered from those early blows, and while he did land some shots, Velasquez was in control for the full five rounds. While many thought that Velasquez’s best chance was to take Dos Santos to the ground and use his wrestling techniques, it didn’t seem to matter where the fight went, as Velasquez held his own. After the fight the new champion admitted that he was exhausted, but the fact that he was able to persevere and continue to dictate the pace throughout the full five rounds is testament to his ability. A battered and bruised Dos Santos looked destroyed by the time the fight was over, and this isn’t the first time Velasquez has done that to an online betting opponent.   The new UFC Heavyweight champion has already taken care of most of the division, including first-round knockout wins over former champion Brock Lesnar, Antonio Silva, and now this victory over Dos Santos. Nine of Velasquez’s 11 online sportsbook wins have come via knockout, and he has certainly proven he can take care of opponents both standing and on the mat. After taking care of Silva, it is very likely that Alistair Overeem will do the same and earn his shot as the next No. 1 contender. Overeem is returning from suspension after he was booked for using performance-enhancing drugs, and if he gets his shot it will be dangerous. Overeem may actually have the edge standing up, but Velasquez proved he is better than another lethal striker in Dos Santos, and will have the edge both grappling and on the ground.   The fact that Overeem tested positive and still gets a shot is somewhat of a problem for some online sports betting fans that feel it compromises the integrity of the sport, but at the same time he may be the only one that stands a chance against the UFC Heavyweight champion. Velasquez has dominated his way to the top with one of the most complete games in the division, and if he gets past Overeem, it’s difficult to think of who could possibly stop him going forward in 2013.
