Rockets Looking for Revenge Against Celtics
The Houston Rockets will looking for revenge on Saturday when they take on the Boston Celtics at Toyota Center. The Celtics gave Houston one of their worst losses of the season. Tip-off is set for 8:30 pm EST and ABC will broadcast the game nationally.
Houston’s losses have been so few and far between this year the Rockets rarely have to circle a game on the schedule. The Rockets have done that for the Boston Celtics tonight.
Oddsmakers opened the Rockets as -6.5-point favorites versus the Celtics, while the game’s total opened at 213.5. Houston is now 8-point favorites and the total has climbed to 214.
The Rockets blew a 26-point lead in falling 99-98 at TD Garden on Dec. 28. The fourth setback in what would be a season-long five-game losing streak.
The Rockets played without starters Chris Paul and Clint Capela, as well as reserve swingman Luc Mbah a Moute. The Rockets led 64-38 early in the second half before coming unglued. Their normally stellar offense came unraveling against the Celtics’ suffocating defense.
Houston is riding a 14-game winning streak. It is their second of this season. Houston is relatively healthy for this time of the season. Reserves Ryan Anderson has a hip issue and Brandan Wright will be out with his knee.
The Rockets have the rematch with Boston, then they face games at Oklahoma City and Toronto next week. Houston is 0-2 against those squads. The Rockets’ recent road trip featured three victories but also ragged, inconsistent performances.
In their last action, Houston was a 105-92 winner on the road against the Los Angeles Clippers. They covered the -8.5-point spread as favorites, while the combined score (197) was profitable news for UNDER bettors.
The Celtics Will Depend on Defense Against the Rockets
The Celtics were a 134-106 winner in their most recent outing at home against the Charlotte Hornets. They covered the -7.5-point spread as favorites, while the total score (240) made winners of OVER bettors.
The Celtics will continue to hang their hat on defense. It does help that their offense has been outstanding since the break. Boston ranks second only to the Golden State Warriors in offensive rating at 119.5 over the last four games. They have a net rating of 15.1, that’s third in the NBA.
Defending the Rockets James Harden is always a chore. He is one of the MVP front-runners. Harden averaged 30.1 points, 5.7 rebounds and 8.1 assists in February. He produced a outlandish 63.6 true shooting percentage last month. That is his second-best mark in any month this season.
